DotA is a team game of normally 5 vs 5 players where each player are eligible to control a character we called heroes with distinct skills and abilities. We could make our choice from about 80-90 heroes choices. If mathematically we calculate there will be N numbers of combination! And we have many items could be bought where each item have their personalized function which add on spices for this game, DotA!
THEREFORE, this game is highly addictive for most of the guys! Please don't doubt my statement here because this is a truth!

Here are the truths for DotA

1. DotA is waste of time
A match of DotA would takes up about 1hour of less (for most of the games unless there are special cases) And normally when a group of friends visit a CC and start to play DotA, there is a very low possibility that they will play for only ONE game. Two games will be a more appropriate number for my calculation here. This means they will spent a least two hours minimum in the CC playing game. This is minimum, REMEMBER!! Some will play for 3,4 hours non stop everyday when they are addicted to it! DotA does not only consist of playing time, but there is also POST MORTEM time where the group of friends will analyze their game (showing off how good are their skills, how their pawn the enemy, criticize their team mates for any mistakes done...etc) after the game ended even after few days few weeks.

2. DotA is a waste of money
The wastage here consists of the money spent in CC (but I do know some players play at home - Garena) and also those extra expenses like snacks, drinks and yam cha's fees. A nominal rate for CC is RM2 / hour where a trip to CC for a player will be about RM 5 - RM10 / trip. Normally, per week the 'attendance' to cc's cost will be about RM 50 - RM100. For addicts, It will be more than RM100 per week. Please don't doubt this statement too. ^^ If you calculate the expenses for Yam Cha and snacks, Hmmmm..............

3. DotA is a waste of energy
DotA takes up a lot of energy of 精神 in chinese. DotA requires a lot of concentration and alert (unless you are a feeder or you jungle a lot) and more and more focus. concentration are needed when you play a team game. When you win, you will want more wins. If you lose, mentally you will be very upset and you will want to play more to win! After every game ended, a player will still have the visual appearances, pictures of the DotA scenes in his mind even when he goes to sleep. This will affect his sleep every night.

4. DotA is a Waste of life
What can you do with perfect skills of DotA? An achievement in the gaming world? Is it what you really want in life?
If it is, continue to play with full commitment and focus! Make that happen in life! If is not, than please reduce it and play with an appropriate scale. Because having a great DotA gains you nothing in the future unless you are a gaming programmer or some other dreams of you will relate to computer gaming. :) If not, you are wasting most of you life playing this game while you could other more meaningful things in life!

5. DotA is a waste of health.
No doubt for this statement. As I mentioned above, DotA will affect you sleep and you will get tired very easily every morning and continue to sleep at unregular time. Normally, most DotA players will sleep 'early' in the morning which is about 4-5am? Perhaps? I did slept at 7,8,9am previously! ^^ When your sleep is irregular, your lifestyle is messed up, and your health will be affected. Meals' time is also messed up and will affect your digestion system!

6. Affects relationship
This is also a true statement unless... your gf... No comment for this. I think everyone will understand this. I experienced this previously too. WHen you are DotAing... everything in this reality world is nothing and your focus is only in the game and to achieve your final goal - WIN the game! So, you will be late to reply sms, din pick up calls, forget about a promise to you partner. It is more acceptable if you are busy with your career or studies but not DotA. I understand the stress and disappointment of the females. But gals, do understand the males too and do not stop them completely. This is impossible!! Haha!

7. Affects studies
This will depends on individuals but mostly YES, it will influence studies. Time management is a subject where most teenagers are not good with it and with the appearance of DotA, this subject will be a definitely failing subject for the us! Haha! We will tend to skip class, tend to skip tutorial, last minute study and one more special case - During finals, we will use DotA for an excuse to relax and release stress. haha!!

8. Affects emotion
Wow... This is a special topic. I am not sure why, maybe a psychology student could comment on my note. We are too emotionally INTO the game and when something happen especially bad things happen, we start to be extremely angry, extremely emotionally and stress out. Bad words, cursing, argument are things we could not avoid in DotA. Lolx!

9. Gain entertainment
Beside all those negative sides, DotA do have it's positive part. We are human too. Life is not about study, working, money or fame or anything. We need to learn how to enjoy life too. Clubbing, DotA, Yam Cha are good social acclivities which I strongly do not disagree. Haha! 人生又都少个十年! Now or Never! Sometimes, we need to relax and enjoy life. DotA do gives us this benefit. We could enjoy our free with with some challenging, enjoyable moments of DotA with friends.

10. Gain of Friendship
This brings us to my last point here, gain of friendship! DotA do helped me to gain a lot of friendship and maintain a lot of friendship. DotA is so special where it became a platform for us male gamers to share our 'experience' , our entertainment time together! We share our sorrows, our happiness and everything through DotA! When we win, we are proud as a team and do showed of sometimes; when we lose, we fight back as a team to gain acknowledgment, pride and sense of fulfillment! Friends are important in life! And DotA do helps you!

HAHAHA...=)
